FACTS ABOUT AFRICA

MADAGASCAR

"Dance"

When a deceased person has been laying underground for seven years, relatives dig up the remains. They wrap the remains in a white cloth and dance with it. They add music and make sure they have food and drinks to celebrate this party. They hold the wrapped remains above their heads and dance through the streets. This is called the Famadihana Festival and Madagassians do this to honor the elderly.
